Our Founders
Bob Stevens
Chief Technology Officer – Flexotronix
Bob Stevens is CTO and co-founder of Flexotronix Limited with a background in semiconductor and thin film processing, microfabrication and microsystems engineering. He is a serial innovator.
In 2003 he co-founded Oxsensis Limited whilst working as the process development group leader in micro and nanotechnologies at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. Oxsensis specialises in harsh environment fibre optic sensor systems for aerospace, oil and gas and power generation.
In 2008 he co-founded The Electrospinning Company Limited which manufactures nanofibre based devices for clinical treatments. His passion for material science and process development lead him into the world of printed electronics, where he invented a materials and processing capability which delivers high quality printed conductive traces on plastic film, compatible with injection moulding to enable intelligent packaging for improved food security. He follows the wireless communications developments being made in the silicon microelectronics industry and develops complimentary manufacturing technology. An example of this is a novel flexible temperature monitoring label which incorporates printed electronics on the same substrate as battery electrodes.
In 2020, at the start of the pandemic he and Flexotronix business partner Jeremy Burbidge proposed a disruptive method to manufacture lateral flow diagnostics. With substantial grant support from BMGF incubated the extreme volume manufacturing platform, the EVM.
Jeremy Burbidge
CEO, Flexotronix Limited
Jeremy Burbidge is a UK-based entrepreneur who established businesses to develop to build new markets for value-add print solutions. Over the past 30 years, Jeremy and his team have designed and built innovative, scalable, automated production solutions using reel to reel technology and control systems with increased functionality and reduced cost, supplying products and services to global customers such as Boeing, McDonalds, British Airways, Telecom companies and the UK Government.
In 2017, when Professor Bob Stevens approached Jeremy looking for innovative electronic print solutions the pair realised they shared the belief that the best way to improve the world was through disruptive change. Together, they embarked on a journey to innovate using hybrid electronics and optoelectronics, founding Flexotronix Limited in April 2018 with the goal to use disruptive technology to make a difference and to save lives.
Under Jeremy and Bob’s guidance, Flexotronix assembled a core team of specialists in Healthcare, Control Systems and Regulatory to collaborate with industry-leading automation, cleanroom providers, print & control solutions manufacturers to make this this dream happen.
Jeremy’s consistent focus is on making a difference, using technology to make a safer and healthier world.
